Imperial Glass Company
Imperial Glass Company, Bellaire, OH, 1905 - 1985
While most of the early carnival glass companies were producing naturalistic or elaborate patterns, the Imperial Glass Company concentrated its output on elaborate, often geometric designs, which were usually part of an extensive line of useful, everyday items.  Marigold was the most commonly found color on these early wares, but the company produced some of the most stunning purples, and pioneered colors such as Helios and Smoke. The output was extensive, as Imperial Grape, Lustre Rose and Octagon are some of the most easily found marigold tumblers today.

The production continued through 1985, although the company was not producting carnival glass at all times during its long span. Although most of the old carnival produced was not marked in any fashion, occassionally an item can be found marked with the Imperial cross, Nuart or NuCut. Carnival production was revived in 1960's, with reissued being marked with the IG mark.  1980's have proven a turbulent period for Imperial, after changing hands several times, the company finally closed in 1985.  The old moulds have been sold, and the unmarked reproductions have appeared on the market.
