| Jain Glass Works of Firozabad, Utter Pashar Province, India, produced carnival glass starting in 1935 for an indeterminate period of time. It is believed to have ceased production of glassware in 1986. The output of Jain is mainly comprised of scarce vases and tumblers. Bob Smith reports 65 plus recorded pattern/shape combinations for the Jain tumblers. Since the tumblers were made in such a far away location, they are often quite difficult to locate in the United States. We thank Bob Smith for providing us with detailed information about Jain tumblers in our collections. Further information concerning Jain and other foreign manufacturers can be found in Glen and Stephen Thistlewood's excellent book "Carnival Glass - The Magic and the Mystery". Their recently published second book "A Century Of Carnival Glass" further expands the information available regarding Jain tumblers. "Carnival Network" a quarterly publication by Glen and Stephen is another source of information on Jain and other Carnival manufacturers. |
