U.S. Glass Company - 1891 - 1910

The U.S. Glass Company was actually a consolidation of 17 glass companies.  All were at one time individual companies that joined together to survive.  Each company was designated by a letter and over time  it has become all but impossible to tell which of the factories made which patterns.  The glass shown on this page is attributed to this conglomerate.
"I measured the bear - it is 3 13/16" tall, 2 5/8" top, 2 5/8" base. It's too cute: has the usual six bears trying out for the olympic team or after having too much mead!  Base is plain, edges are scalloped on the base. It has a Grape and leaves band on top and bottom. Iridescence is multi-color, but better inside than out. It has a few usual strawmarks.  I am almost afraid to handle it, as it costs something like bezillion dollars per square inch and there are only 5 perfect and 1 cracked examples known, all in green. All perfect ones are in carnival collections, but we have lost track of where the cracked one has gone to. There is an urban legend about a lost marigold example. They are also known in crystal, possibly some crystal iridized by Terry Crider in marigold and one lost in the process, and also clear and with silver overlay *not carnival*. Only 3 pitchers are known. I understand that the previous owner of this pretty tumbler has found it at a flea market in Michigan. This is all I know, honest!"
